Tricia Countie, ASN, RN,
Owner, ACE Gold Certified Medical Exercise Specialist, ACE Certified Personal Trainer, ACE Health Coach, ACE Group Fitness Instructor, Yoga Alliance RYT-200 (YogaFit trained)
While Tricia's passion for health and wellness has seemingly always been a part of her life (including an 8th grade science fair project on the effects of over-the-counter diet pills on fruit flies...first place!), her early professional years were in the corporate realm in sales and marketing. "Training" family members and friends in the gym was a natural way to share the love she had for resistance training (just ask Kerry about their first gym date!) She discovered Women's Bodybuilding in the early 80's and was a huge fan of the physiques of Lisa Lyon, Rachel McLish, Gladys Portugues, Cory Everson and others. Although she toyed with the idea of competing through the years, it took her almost 23 years to step on a stage!
Leaving the corporate world after the birth of her son, she spent the next 10-years as a stay-at-home mom to three children and honing her interest in nutrition and health. It was during this time that she discovered additional wellness activities such as pilates, yoga...and, with her husbands nudging, started running. All of this served to make her realize how much she wanted to make fitness and health more than just a personal interest and share her passion professionally. She obtained her personal training certification (ACE CPT) through the American Council on Exercise (NCCA accredited), followed that with the ACE certifications for Health Coach (ACE HC) and the ACE Advanced Medical Exercise Specialist (ACE MES), for which she is Gold Certified. The ACE MES is an advanced certification that is meant to help bridge the gap between the healthcare community and the patient, thereby helping clients improve their fitness levels to decrease risk factors and regain strength, endurance, and functional movement before, during, and following rehabilitation for diseases, disorders, and ailments. Her most recent ACE certification is the ACE Group Fitness Instructor (ACE GFI) as a general adjunct to her YogaFit yoga training. She completed her Yoga Alliance RYT-200 in August of 2010.
Tricia has also sat as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) on several ACE Certification Panels. These are panels of 7-10 ACE Professionals, along with ACE and Castle Worldwide representatives, who take part in one of several stages of the certification process from delineating the certification (scope of practice and materials to be learned, as well as evaluation of the certification itself) and exam content to cut-score (determining what score the prospective candidate must obtain.) She sat on these panels in 2012 and 2013.
Tricia has also earned incredible experience in dealing with food allergies, sensitivities and intolerances, celiac disease, diabetes, epilepsy, PCOS, thyroid issues, ASD/PFO repair, joint replacement, degenerative disc disease, osteoporosis, COPD, asthma, arthritis, MS, ADHD, Eating Disorders, Dysmorphia, Bipolar Disorder, Depression throughout her life both personally and professionally. These experiences have served to inform and enrich her knowledge and her life...
Her professional continuing education courses have included Diane Cotting's Cancer Conscious program (with emphasis on post-breast cancer treatment fitness), Nutrition Management, AFS-Chiropractic Care, Yogalates, Assisted Stretch, Fitness & Menopause, Kids & Fitness, Pregnancy, Pilates, Exercise Rx for Psychological Health, Basic Training for Running, TRX Training, Yoga for Seniors and Pre & Post-natal and Yoga Therapy, and Numerous Nutrition Modalities and supplementation courses.
Her personal fitness activities have included local road and trail races (a family affair), biking and skiing, as well as entering into physique competition. Her first competition was in 2007, where she started her journey in the Figure category in an NPC natural show (3rd place in both Masters and Open) and proceeded to do an INBF show just weeks later where she placed 2nd in both categories. Her love of the INBF's philosophy of natural competition kept her competing there and she was thrilled when in 2010, she earned her Pro Card in both BodyBuilding and Fit Body (first time out in body building after some prodding!) In 2012 she took her first Pro Championship, winning first place in Women's BodyBuilding at the US Cup in Connecticut. She has since retired from competitive Bodybuilding. Tricia is the proud mother of one son, two daughters, a step-daughter and now grandmother of a grandson.
Tricia's consistent desire to develop professionally and interest in her clients' health and well-being has lead her back to school beginning in 2014, whereupon she immediately applied, was accepted into, and completed Manchester Community College's well-respected ASN-RN program from which she graduated in 2017. In addition to her career in Fitness/Health Coaching, she is an RN in Behavioral Health.
She is continuing her post licensure education pursuing her BSN and then plans to further on still with a Masters/NP in Mental Health. She feels extraordinarily lucky to have two careers that dovetail so beautifully together and benefit each other - truly fueled by heart felt passions.
Kerry Countie, Owner, Licensed Massage Therapist #3550M, YogaFit L-1
Kerry is our Licensed Massage Therapist. He is a graduate of the Massage Therapy Program at New Hampshire Institute of Therapeutic Arts and obtained his License in July of 2010. He has also taken courses in Nutrition and completed YogaFit's L-1 Training and had obtained his Personal Training Certification from ACE, though wellness heart is in therapeutic massage.
While he continues to work full-time outside of the studio as an Operations Manager at NetNumber in Lowell, Massachusetts, he established our Massage Therapy Program as a part-time therapist.
He is a half-marathoner (and has not given up totally on that 26-mile dream) and has completed numerous local races (with his greatest single run distance to date being the Boston Prep 16-miler in Derry) and having run the Reach The Beach Relay with his former Navisite team beginning in 2007 many times. He also loves to hike and hopes to start winter hiking finally in the winter of 2017/18.
Kerry is an all-around sports fan - and an even bigger fan and supporter of his family.
Linda Julian, ACE Certified Personal Trainer, YogaFit L-1, Nutritional Therapy Practitioner-NTP
Linda’s passion and enthusiasm for helping others to achieve their fitness goals is obvious upon meeting her. Understanding that everyone has their own individual needs, she enjoys working with her clients in their journey toward achieving their goals in a safe and effective manner.
Linda believes that fitness and proper nutrition are the keys to enriching the body and mind for a life filled with energy and optimal health. This belief led her to a career as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (NTP) and Personal Trainer (PT).
Linda left a successful career in real estate to begin her journey supporting others in their paths toward wellness as a certified NTP. She has spent many years seeking to understand the origins of chronic illness after questioning why we as a society are so ill even with all the advice generally given to “eat right” and “exercise.” Her concern for herself and others inspired her to become better educated so that she in turn could become the educator. Finding the answers to these questions was the start of her own journey, which led to her nutritional certification.
Linda reacquainted herself with exercise beginning with horseback riding and then weight training. After meeting regularly with her personal trainer to work on core strength to become a better rider, she was inspired to train for her first INBF physique competition. Today, she is a certified PT who loves her own workouts and is rewarded when she inspires her clients to love their workouts as well. Although Linda has hung up her saddle, for now, she continues to work toward being the best she can be physically.
Linda’s journey continues with her most recent L-1 yoga certification, which will complete the full mind, body, spirit circle enabling her to assist her clients with all aspects of wellness. She is also working on her ACE Health Coach certification while pursuing her degree in Health Sciences specializing in Nutrition. Upon completion, Linda will have completed her Internship and taken her board certification exam. She will then be a licensed Registered Dietitian. While in NH we have the benefit of being able to use our education to teach about nutrition without this designation, she looks forward to having even greater influence in the industry in this position.
A Note From Tricia & Linda to Our Clients:
We are both excited to be expanding tour knowledge and able to provide our clients with expanded high level care, insight, coaching, counseling and training in the process. We appreciate the support of our current and future, clients in the process. The time required to do this has changed our availability in the studio. While the total number of hours is still considerable, the time blocks have become consolidated due to lecture and clinical/hospital hours.
