The IronWorks Personal Training Studio LLC was established in September 2007...
and was located just down the street from our current location on the second floor of The Clock Tower Building at Londonderry Square. We were in a small office unit with just about 450 square feet, allowing for a single training suite and a small combination office/cardio area. It was a compact, efficient, central location (with a less than happy downstairs neighbor.) and we spent a fabulous 4 years growing in that location, Looking for the right location to expand into for the better part of our last year., we also spent that last year preparing for our planned expansion into two new offerings, Yoga & Yoga Therapy and Massage Therapy, two amazing lines of services that work as wonderful adjuncts for our Personal Training Clients, as well as, stand alone services for all new clients too!
We moved to our current location in September 2011 (final fit out during a hurricane...)
but those are the things that just help make life more memorable!) Our current location is 1650 square feet (which is still quite "boutique" sized by gym/training studio standards), and is outfitted with 2-private training suites, a multi-purpose studio space that we use for workshops, cardio, plyometric and agility activities with our clients, yoga classes and more, an office, a massage therapy room and 2-rest rooms (we do not have shower facilities though we do offer complimentary items to freshen up.) We have had the privilege of sharing some of our space as an office for Linda Julian and her Nutrition Therapy Practice, Progressive Nutrition Concepts. Linda will be leaving us soon, so watch for updates here and in our news section as we are introducing some exciting changes ahead for our studio space! The first 2-years in our current location have flown by in a blink of an eye! It is amazing the changes that have happened in this time, both personally and professionally, but it would appear that life is ever-changing and evolving or it is stagnant and regressing, so the latter is certainly the goal! Tricia was honored to be chosen as a SME (Subject Matter Expert) for ACE (American Counsel on Exercise) in 2012 and sat on 2-certification panels for cut-score (HC and AHFS.) The end of 2013 will bring a return to those duties as the role delineation panel will meet for AHFS. Kerry will be also be adding a new certification to his Massage License...and only more fun ahead!
2013 became 2014 and the evolution of our studio and the industry in general...
influenced some of the changes and format of our studio as we move forward that spring. We eliminated the "cardio corner" so that we could retake the yoga floor and reintroduce AyovikAra. We could continue to offer private and appointment based group yoga. We also were planning Workshops and Series-based Classes from the Workshops for clients that do not have their groups to put together. The office had been moved to the Yoga/Training Side of the studio, in the old Cardio/Progressive Nutrition Office. This has freed up the former large studio office, and the entire other wing of the studio, for massage. This second larger massage room was able to be set up for couples massage. And, of course, as we had mentioned the end of the last year, Kerry added to his professional expertise, so in addition to is massage license, he is also now an ACE Certified Personal Trainer.
And with the the continuation of 2014, came massive, unexpected, and yet, ultimately, good change (once we survived the completion!)
We flipped the studio...training went to the right, massage went to the left. The training rooms became linked, the massage rooms separated, the back room opened up, a new little waiting area in the entry...the office in the open room off of massage - a whole new floor plan. It was unexpected - but we like it! It was a long six months putting it together (while our clients suffered through working out in the construction zone) - through all those winter storms in the beginning of it. We still have a couple of finishing touches that we are going to add for to introduce the space this fall with a seasonal open house - pictures will be up soon!
